after having had a really good time in granada, we continued our journey through andalusia and our next stop was córdoba. there we were really lucky with the weather, it was a bit cloudy and not too hot, perfect for sightseeing. i loved the mezquita, which is a chathedral and was originally built as a mosque. i’ll show you some pictures of it in my next post. and in the meantime, enjoy córdoba :)
as mentioned in one of my previous posts, granada was our next stop on the andalusia-trip. there we visited an austrian a friend who was studying in granada for one year. he was a great tour guide and also managed to find a place for us to stay at another friend’s home. we had a really good time full of laughter and sangria ;)
we also visited the ‘alhambra de granada’ together, which is a wonderful and impressive palace and fortress, built in 889. i especially enjoyed the nasrid palaces and the beautiful gardens. for me, the alhambra was a highlight during our journey and if you ever come to granada, take some time and visit the alhambra, you will not regret it!
from the alhambra, we also enjoyed a great view over the city
sorry for not posting regularly, but summertime is busy-time. i hope to have more time for blogging again in a few weeks …
in the meantime i’d like to show you another part of my holiday pictures from andalusia. after spending a night in almeria, we continued the trip towards granada (which i really liked, but more about that in the next post).
and of course we had to see some of the white villages (“pueblos blancos”) near the sierra nevada, we visited them on our way and here are some pictures i took on the road.
the villages we saw were “pampaneira” and “bubión”. both of them were gorgeous, it was absolutely worth the adventurous car ride :)
the next stop on our road trip through andalusia was almeria. it is a lovely small town, located directly at the sea. we stayed for one night, had delicious paella and visited the fortress, from there we enjoyed an amazing view over the city.
our second stop was almeria, which is located around 430 km south of valencia. at first we wanted to stop in alicante as well but in the end we didn’t, because we wanted to get to andalusia as soon as pssible (we spent one night in alicante on our way back to valencia, yet we didn’t see much of the city but an awesome tapas bar). so we left valencia on the second day in the evening and became real adventure girls because we spent one night in the car. we felt kind of scary because we didn’t know if it is allowed to sleep in a car in spain (a few days later a friend told us that it’s no problem if you aren’t camping), and so we woke up at every little noise we heard and thought it’s the police who wants to arrest us :D buuuut it was worth the fear, we saw a wonderful sunrise the next morning :)
after a little breakfast at the harbor (i cannot remeber the name of the city, must have been somewhere north of almeria), we continued our journey and stopped at a beach nearby for some sunbathing. we arrived in almeria in the late afternoon, i will show you some photos of the city in my next post. here are some of the photos i took during our way to almeria, i was amazed by this landscape, it looked like a mix between desert and mountains and sometimes it reminded me a little bit of ‘breaking bad’ :)
we didn’t plan a lot in advance for our roadtrip because we wanted to be as flexible as possible and so we just booked a room for the first night in valencia. we arrived there in the early afternoon and at the airport we picked up our rental car to make our first experiences with driving a car in spain. i must say i was very surprised about how the spanish people drive their cars. i expected the traffic situation to be chaotic like for example in italy, but it was peaceful, i was truly happy about that :)
valencia is a lovely city, we also were at the beach for a few hours. after one night at a nice hostel we continued our journey southbound towards beautiful andalusia.
around two months ago i was in bratislava with my boyfriend for one day, i already shared some pitures of our trip with you. when i went to the lab last week, i didn’t know i still had some pictures of this trip on my black & white film and was pretty surprised about it, so i thought i would like to share them with you. and also because i’m very happy with the pictures i got, the black and white ones are, in my opinion, much nicer than those of the colour negative film.
