phoneography challenge: my neighborhood

for this week’s challenge i’d like to show you some places just around the corner where i live in vienna. i think those are the first photos on my blog taken with my mobile phone, usually i do that just for instagram shots ;) all four of them were taken with a samsung galaxy s advance and edited with an app called “pics art”.

this is the "donaukanal", just around the corner where i live. i already showed you a lot of photos taken there. a few days ago my roommate called it "our garden" :)

  1. Seems like it was the best day for photos too! Sunny and beautiful shots, and it doesn’t look so different from Amsterdam :-o especially with those nice biking paths! are they around in the whole city?

    • you’re right, the one shot looks like amsterdam indeed :) unfortunately they’re not around in the whole city, just along the main roads and some other selected streets. but what makes me really happy is the fact that biking in vienna is increasing rapidly and the city government is going to invest more money into the expansion of the biking paths :)
how’s the biking situation in oslo by the way? i was there in august last year but i don’t remember many bikers… since the city is small, biking would be a nice way to get around…

      • There are quite few biking roads in Oslo, but I hope more is to come here too! I miss biking, although there are quite many hills in Oslo, so I guess it would feel less like a cruise here.. Amsterdam was simply fantastic on all accounts :-o

    • I just got back from Hiroshima and it ALSO has a tram. Although I hated it….
Its nice that you bike to you work. I used to bike (most for leisure and not transportation) in my home city of Chicago. I’m proud as we consistently rank high, and almost always above NY, as one of the more bike friendly cities in the states

      • that’s really great! biking is a wonderful way to get around and you get to know your city in a very different way! i’m afraid i have to get a new bike for the upcoming biking season, the back tire is wobbling like hell ;) and the brakes don’t work very well, too!

  2. I miss the tram, I never get to ride them here in the US. :( pity though ‘coz everyone else here wants to have his/her own car. Not very eco-friendly. :(

    • that’s problem indeed… never understood why all the people are so keen about their cars. i wish there was more car-sharing and stuff like that…
but there are some trams in some us-cities?!

let me know what you think about it...
